RAILWAY services have been blocked this evening after a person was struck by a train.

Greater Anglia said trains between London Liverpool Street and Hertford East face delays and cancellations.

The operator warned that disruption could continue until at least 10.45pm on Thursday, October 29.

A Greater Anglia spokesperson said: "Train services are subject to delays, short notice alterations and cancellations.

"Network Rail staff and emergency services are on route."

All lines between Broxbourne and Hertford East are blocked while emergency services deal with the incident.

Passengers should check before travelling and allow extra time for their journeys.

London Underground is accepting rail tickets between Liverpool Street and King's Cross/Moorgate, while Great Northern is accepting Greater Anglia tickets between King's Cross/Moorgate and Hertford North.

Services could be delayed, altered or cancelled at short notice while the incident is dealt with.

Greater Anglia said an update was expected within the next hour.

In a statement, Greater Anglia said: "All lines are blocked between Broxbourne and Hertford East owing to a person being hit by a train."

The company apologised and reminded passengers that advance-purchase ticket holders can use an earlier or later service if their train is cancelled.

Travellers should check Greater Anglia's JourneyCheck service for the latest information before setting out.

Passengers whose journeys are delayed by 15 minutes or more may be entitled to compensation through Greater Anglia's Delay Repay scheme.
