HARWICH High Lighthouse will be lit up to mark special occasions throughout September.
The lighthouse will be illuminated as part of a scheme led by Harwich Town Council, with support from Tendring Council and the Harwich Society.
Previously the lighthouse glowed red for Merchant Navy Day and will next be lit in red, white, and blue on September 9 for Emergency Services Day.
Later in the month, the lighthouse will shine blue for Dementia Awareness to coincide with Harwich Town Council’s Memory Walk on the weekend of September 19 and 20.
Councillor Garry Calver, who led the council’s project to install the lighting equipment, said: "The illumination of the High Lighthouse on these important anniversaries has been extremely well received throughout the community and has shown our town’s support for so many aspects of life within the Harwich Peninsula.
"In a small way, it is proving to be a very positive expression of our thanks and support."
The town council has been granted a licence by Tendring Council to light the lighthouse up to 12 times each year.
The council also supplies the power for each display.
A final illumination for 2026 is planned in November to mark White Ribbon Day.
