Search the Public Notice PortalCOUNCILS in Essex have secured government funding to develop digital planning tools which could speed up housing delivery.
Essex County Council, Southend Council, and Thurrock Council have received backing from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through round six of the £2.4 million PropTech Innovation Fund.
The funds will support the creation and testing of digital technologies to improve strategic planning and accelerate housing development across the region.
Jeff Bray, councillor responsible for regeneration, planning and heritage at Essex County Council, said: "This funding recognises Greater Essex's strong track record of innovation and partnership working.
"By using new digital technology, we can improve how strategic planning is carried out.
"It will give decision-makers better information and stronger evidence.
"The project will also help create a more efficient and transparent planning process while supporting sustainable growth and delivering benefits for residents, businesses and communities across Greater Essex."

The project will be delivered in partnership with planning and design consultancy Prior + Partners, as well as Lancashire County Council, who will act as a testing partner.
The digital tools will support the development of a new Strategic Development Strategy (SDS), improving collaboration between planning authorities and enabling better sharing, analysis and visualisation of data.
Funding will also cover the upskilling of officers to use the new digital tools.
