A High Street bank branch is set to close later this month as part of a national wave of closures.
The Lloyds Bank branch at 77-81 High Street in Chelmsford will shut permanently on September 24.
Its closure will be followed by Southend's Halifax branch at 108 High Street on October 12, the Lloyds in Braintree's Bank Street on October 29, and the Halifax branch at 43 Station Road in Clacton on November 9.
These closures are part of a wider plan by Lloyds Banking Group to close 31 Lloyds Bank branches and 48 Halifax sites across the UK, citing changing customer habits and a growing shift towards online and mobile banking.

A spokeswoman for Lloyds Banking Group said earlier this year: "Customers want the freedom to bank in the way that works for them and we offer more choice and ways to manage money than ever before.
"From our leading apps and 24/7 messaging service to local banking options like our community bankers, PayPoint and access to all of our Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland branches, we’re giving our customers the flexibility to bank wherever and whenever they need us."
The group announced in February that 95 branch closures were due to take place between May 2026 and March 2027.
The recent closures come amid further changes to the group’s high street presence, including the retirement of the Halifax brand after 173 years.
All Halifax customer accounts will be rebranded to Lloyds over time, although the banking group has stated that customers do not need to take any action and will be contacted about the changes.
Lloyds Banking Group, which has owned Halifax since 2009, confirmed the brand phase-out earlier this summer following reports in May.
