A major Essex road is facing severe delays after a car caught fire, with motorists facing long delays.
The A130 southbound is seeing heavy traffic between the A12 Chelmsford Bypass at Howe Green and the A1245 at Rettendon Turnpike following the vehicle fire, reported shortly after 1pm on Thursday, August 20.
Traffic is stationary in the area, with severe delays of around 54 minutes. Average speeds on the southbound carriageway have fallen to about 5mph, while queues are also building in the opposite direction towards Chelmsford.
This follows an earlier crash on the northbound carriageway.
Drivers are being urged to avoid the area where possible and allow extra time for journeys.
Essex Police has confirmed that they are on scene along with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service.
