A supermarket is installing a new camera-based parking system “to make it easier to find a space" for shoppers.
Sainsbury’s in Tofts Walk, Braintree, is installing the new technology from Monday, August 24, according to signs at the store.
Under the new system, customers enter their vehicle registration at a pay station, pay for parking, and collect a refund voucher.
Parking is free with a minimum £5 spend in-store.

Blue badge holders can register for free parking by taking their badge to the customer service desk.
The latest changes aim to make it easier for shoppers to find a space, the supermarket giant says, with no ticket required to be displayed in vehicles under the new system.
In 2023, the supermarket faced criticism for a previous parking policy that banned cars from using the car park after closing hours.
Following discussions with Braintree Council, Sainsbury’s reversed the decision, allowing free parking after 6pm.
