The rain is finally on its way across Essex, but could residents be in line for yet another hot period into September?
Forecasters suggest a spell of hot weather may arrive in September, with the possibility of above-average temperatures and settled conditions in the south of the UK.
The Met Office’s long-range outlook for September 2 to 16 indicates a pattern of higher pressure over southern regions, bringing drier and sunnier weather.
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Temperatures are likely to be a little above average overall.
"There is a chance that late season hot spells or heatwaves develop, especially in the south."

The forecast comes despite a more unsettled end to August.
The Met Office predicts low pressure will dominate in the final week of the month, bringing rain or showers to many areas, along with some sunny intervals and possibly windy conditions.
Temperatures during this period are expected to be close to the seasonal average, though brief warm and humid spells remain possible, particularly in southern parts of the UK.
As meteorological autumn begins, forecasters say confidence in the prevailing weather pattern decreases.
However, the trend suggests the north and northwest will be wetter and windier, while the south and southeast are likely to stay drier and warmer, raising the prospect of a late burst of summer heat for Essex and the wider region.
