NORTH West Essex MP Kemi Badenoch has urged Andy Burnham to keep the cut to fuel duty.
Mrs Badenoch has called on Andy the Prime Minister to maintain the 5p per litre reduction, arguing families and businesses must be protected from rising costs.
The cut, introduced by the Conservative government, was intended to shield households and businesses from cost hikes following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Keir Starmer delayed a planned increase in fuel duty until the end of December 2026, but Mrs Badenoch says this does not go far enough.
She said: "Andy Burnham must take action when Parliament returns and pledge to keep the fuel duty cut.

"Families and businesses must be protected from rising costs, not used to fund a government spending spree.
"Families and businesses across Uttlesford and Chelmsford rely on their cars to get to work, health appointments, school runs, if Labour goes ahead with this planned fuel duty hike families with two cars will pay an extra £156 between 2026 and 2029.
"As we approach the end of the year, motorists across North West Essex need urgent reassurance from the Government that they will not be hit with higher prices at the pump."
