Essex County Council has announced the plans, which aim to alter various restrictions in numerous streets, including Station Road, Kingsway, Nelson Road, Hordle Street, Station Lane and Pattrick's Lane.
The council intends to revoke several existing restrictions on these roads.
These include the 'no waiting Monday-Saturday 8am to 6pm' restrictions in some areas, 'no loading Friday 6am-6pm' restrictions, and 'limited waiting Monday-Saturday 8am to 6pm, 2hrs no return within 4hrs' restrictions.
Similarly, the 'no waiting Monday-Saturday 9am to 6pm' and 'no waiting at any time' restrictions will be revoked in certain areas.
The council also plans to implement new restrictions in other areas.
These include 'no waiting at any time' restrictions on parts of Station Road, Kingsway, Nelson Road, and Hordle Street.
'Limited waiting Monday-Saturday 8am to 6pm, 2hrs no return within 4hrs' restrictions will be implemented on parts of Station Road and Kingsway.
Hordle Street will have 'no waiting Monday-Saturday 8am-6pm' restrictions in place.
'No loading Friday 6am-6pm' restrictions will be implemented on a part of Kingsway.
'Disabled badge holders only' bays will be implemented on parts of Kingsway.
Changes to the speed limit have also been proposed.
Currently, the national speed limit applies to Station Lane and Pattrick's Lane.
However, the council proposes to reduce this to 30mph.
The revised speed limit will apply to Station Lane from a point approximately 132 metres west of its junction with Kingsway, west for approximately 216 metres to its junction with Pattrick’s Lane.
On Pattrick’s Lane, the revised speed limit will apply from a point approximately 64 metres northwest of its junction with High Street, northwest for approximately 118 metres to its junction with Station Lane.
This order will be incorporated into The Essex County Council (Tendring District) (Prohibition of Waiting, Loading and Stopping) and (On-Street Parking Places) (Civil Enforcement Area) Consolidation Order 2019.
Objections to the proposed scheme must be sent to TrafficRegulation.Order@essexhighways.org quoting reference: TRAF8777 by August 28, 2026.
