A person has been taken to hospital following a crash on a major Essex route.

The incident happened on the northbound M11 near Great Hallingbury at around 2.20pm.

An ambulance attended the scene, alongside the fire and rescue service.

One person was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow.

A spokesperson for East of England Ambulance Service said: "One patient was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for further assessment and treatment."

Two of three lanes remain closed northbound within junction 8, close to Stansted Airport, causing delays.

Seven miles of traffic built up, with travel times delayed by more than an hour.
