With the school summer holidays just around the corner, there’s no need to travel far to keep the whole family entertained.

Hedingham Castle in the village of Castle Hedingham has unveiled a packed programme of events throughout July and August, from outdoor theatre and vintage cars to jousting knights and magical fairy-tale fun.

Outdoor Theatre Under the Stars

Nothing says summer quite like live theatre in the open air, and Hedingham Castle’s historic grounds provide the perfect backdrop.

  • Sherlock Holmes & The Hounds of the Baskervilles
    Wednesday 9 July, 7pm
    The Pantaloons bring a fresh and comic twist to the classic detective tale in this lively new adaptation.
  • The Jungle Book
    Monday 28 July, 4pm
    Chameleon’s Web Theatre Company transports audiences to the jungle to meet Mowgli, Baloo and Bagheera in this family favourite.
  • The (Almost) Complete History of Britain
    Thursday 7 August, 7pm
    A fast-paced and inventive retelling of Britain’s history, packed into under two hours of energetic performance.
  • Romeo & Juliet
    Saturday 23 August, 4pm
    The Duke’s Theatre Company presents a bold reimagining of Shakespeare’s iconic love story.

Classic & Vintage Car Show - Sunday 26 July

A firm favourite in the summer calendar, this popular event returns with over 350 classic and vintage vehicles on display. Visitors can also enjoy live music from Lissie Allsopp and The Bel Canto Vintage Sisters, alongside a variety of food trucks and stalls – making it a fantastic day out for all ages.

Fairytale Fest Suffolk - Tuesday 11 August

Step into a magical world filled with beloved fairytale characters. This enchanting event includes live performances, unicorn rides, a petting farm, disco, soft play, crafts and storytime sessions. Morning tickets have already sold out, with limited availability remaining for the afternoon.

Knights of Albion Joust - Sunday 30 & Monday 31 August (Bank Holiday Weekend)

Round off the summer with an unforgettable spectacle as the Knights of Albion return for their final joust of the season. Expect thrilling displays, immersive entertainment and plenty of medieval excitement for the whole family.

General Admission Days

For those seeking a more relaxed visit, Hedingham Castle is open on selected dates throughout the summer for general admission.
