The best venues to watch the World Cup in Maldon and Burnham

As the World Cup gets underway in USA, Mexico and Canada, venues across the towns are combining community sprit with party atmosphere so fans can follow the highly anticipated tournament locally.

Drapers Farm Spots Club at Maldon Rugby Club is opening its doors for England’s clash with Croatia on June 17, promising a lively, family-friendly atmosphere.

The non-profit venue is offering free entry, multiple big screens and a range of match night drink deals, including Fosters at £3.95, Inches cider at £4.25 and Cruzcampo at £4.95. 

“As a non-profit community amenity, we're delighted to offer free entry for everyone, making Drapers Farm Sports Club the perfect place to cheer on the Three Lions with friends, family and fellow football fans,” a spokesperson said.

Also in the town, The Muddy Duck is gearing up for the full tournament, running to July 19, with free entry and a strong focus on the viewing experience.

With two bars to reduce queues and a surround sound system in place, the venue is aiming to ensure fans won’t miss a moment of the action. A later licence is also planned if England progress to the knockout stages.

Meanwhile, in Burnham, The Victoria Inn is positioning itself as a World Cup hotspot, showing every England match live across eight screens, including two in its popular beer garden.

Fans can take advantage of drinks offers such as four-pint jugs and five bottled beers for £20, while soaking up what the pub promises will be “the best atmosphere around”.

To keep things safe and enjoyable, the venue has introduced clear house rules during matches, including plastic glasses only, no children after 8pm and strict measures against disorderly behaviour.
