Over the years, it has evolved into a major regional attraction, now home to a wide range of animals including polar bears, capybaras and rare livestock breeds.
Despite being located in Suffolk, the attraction continues to draw strong support from Essex residents, thanks to Doherty’s local roots and its close proximity to the county border.
The VisitEngland gold award is expected to further boost visitor numbers during the busy summer season, with families across Essex likely to be among those making the short trip.
Doherty has previously spoken about his ambition to create a space that connects people with food, farming and wildlife, while supporting conservation efforts.
Jimmy’s Farm and Wildlife Park hosts events throughout the year, including seasonal activities and educational programmes aimed at children and families.
